1041 Cypress Avenue; although the address might only sound vaguely familiar, many San Diegans remember Betty Broderick, whose name made national headlines more than 24 years ago. The home, also the crime scene, is now on the market.
The La Jolla socialite and suburban housewife was convicted of the November 5, 1989 murders of her ex-husband, Daniel T. Broderick III, and his second wife, Linda (Kolkena) Broderick.
On the night of the murder, Betty Broderick got into the home and proceeded to fire off her .38 pistol, killing her ex-husband and his new wife.
Betty was convicted on December 11, 1991 of two counts of second-degree murder and later sentenced to 32 years to life in prison.
